Natural Flavors: How Big Food Is Messing with God’s Design

Reed Dunn Episode 88

Big food and big pharma are hot topics in the wellness space these days, and for good reason. They have proven to simply care about profits rather than the wellbeing of us all, as seen by the staggering decline in the health of the U.S. over the last few decades. The more that big food and big pharma play a role in our daily lives, often the worse our health is.

In today's episode, we are diving into the topic of natural flavors - a mysterious addition to nearly all packaged foods that doesn't sound so mysterious, but actually in fact is. If you think you are getting something "natural" you've been duped by big food.

There are a myriad of issues with the hundreds of chemical additives used in flavorings, but the root issue of all of this is that we are messing with God's design. God made food perfectly sweet, salty, satiating, satisfying, with just the right scent and flavor profile to nourish our bodies and allow our brains to communicate when to stop eating. Flavorists and food scientists, on the other hand, are designing hyper palatable foods to addict our brains and bodies to them. Tune into this episode to learn more about how natural flavors are made along with learning some practical tips on how to start kicking them out of your diet!
